There are three positions available for the City of Washington Zoning Board. These are volunteer positions.
If interested please complete the Zoning Board Application and submit to the City Clerk via email at washington.cityclerk@gmail.com or deliver to City Hall 55 West Maiden Street Washington, PA 15301.
*Must be a City of Washington resident.
Zoning Hearing Board
The Zoning Hearing Board functions in strict accordance with and pursuant to the
Municipalities Planning Code and shall have the following powers: Appeals from the
Zoning Officer. The Board also hears and decide appeals where it is alleged that the
Zoning Officer has failed to follow prescribed procedures or has misinterpreted or
misapplied any provision of a valid ordinance or map of the City. The Board hears and
decide requests for special exceptions and variances. The Board consists of 3 resident
members with staggered 3-year terms who are appointed by Council. They meet as
requests are made and decisions are needed. Council may appoint up to 3 alternate
members shall be seated if needed to create a quorum
